Programs
This year, due to the COVID-19 virus, our annual summer reading program will look a lot different than in years past.
Story times and presentations will move to online. We are looking at using either a ZOOM room or Google Meets so that we can interact with kids during story time. Other presentations will be recorded and uploaded to our Social Media accounts like Facebook, as well as added to the website.
How it will work:
Participants will need to register - parents can go to our registration page to register their children. We have a short questionnaire to help us plan the best way to present the summer program this year, so this registration is very important. We also need it so we know how many packets to make each week.
Every Monday, starting on June 4th, we will have packets for kids and parents to pick up so kids will have them during our live, online story time on Wednesday mornings. These packets will have various items such as activity pages, a free book to keep, items relating to that week's theme, and a craft sheet and some craft items that can be used to create the craft. We will have a video each week that kids can follow along with to make the craft. We will encourage parents to send us pictures of the projects so we can post them on our Social Media to show off their projects. Everything in the packet is for your child to keep. We do not want anything returned, due to concerns of spreading the COVID-19 virus. But we would love pictures to show off your children's activities!
These packets will be divided into age groups and placed in boxes labeled with the appropriate age range, outside the library. You will pick one up for each child on Mondays between 9:00 am and 1:00 pm, starting June 4th.
we are planning other things in addition to story time and those activities, we plan to post fun things to do with the family each week Watch the website, Facebook, and newspaper to find out when these activities will be.
This is an unusual time, and we have worked hard to create our summer reading program from the ground up using different technology than we have used before, and thinking outside the box to provide a fun, educational program for our kids this year. We hope you all enjoy the program.
